OnePlus 10 Pro Review:Display/Design/Price

OnePlus 10 Pro Review:

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the best phone the company has ever made without a doubt. It ticks pretty much every box you’d expect from a high-end flagship phone in 2022, from its powerful processor and beautiful display to its solid camera and smart design. The next-generation flagship smartphone from OnePlus is sophisticated and sleek. The brand’s vision of a legitimate flagship is now better able to challenge the big brands. In addition to being a lower-cost flagship, it represents a legitimate alternative to Samsung and Google. In addition, the phone is competitively priced against high-end rivals like the Galaxy S22 Ultra ($1,200) and iPhone 13 Pro ($999).

A smooth, approachable interface, 5G, and similar performance are available. A few omissions in the US models and a mediocre low-light camera performance make it less impressive.

In spite of these relatively minor issues, the OnePlus 10 Pro offers plenty of value for the price and is well worth considering if you’re looking for a high-performance Android handset that won’t blow your budget.

 OnePlus 10 Design, display

The look of the OnePlus 10 Pro is pretty good. It looks better and is more stylish than the previous OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro’s shiny, fingerprint-prone backs because it has a frosted glass back and an attractive camera unit. Its design stands out well against the likes of the iPhone and S22 Ultra.

In addition to the 6.7-inch screen, the maximum resolution is 3,216 pixels by 1,440 pixels, which means even tiny details appear crystal clear. It’s colourful too, with punchy colours that don’t disappoint in games like Candy Crush and Alto’s Odyssey or vibrant shows like Squid Game and Bluey.

With toughened Gorilla Glass 5 on the back and even tougher Gorilla Glass Victus on the front, it should be able to take a beating as well. The phone isn’t officially waterproof unless you buy the T-Mobile version in the US, which is IP68 rated. Those outsides of the United States will simply have to keep it extra safe from spilled drinks.

According to reports, OnePlus is partnering directly with T-Mobile for the US launch of the phone, which will not support 5G on AT&T. In order to make the 10 Pro compatible with Verizon’s 5G networks, OnePlus has been working with the carrier.

T-Mobile’s waterproofing feature is an exclusive one, but it’s common in many of its competitors, including the iPhone 13 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and the Pixel 6 Pro. The previous OnePlus 9 Pro was also IP68-rated, so it is especially disappointing that such a useful safety feature is being restricted to one US carrier.

The OnePlus 10 Pro is constructed from aluminium and comes with Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and Gorilla Glass 5 on the back. This phone blends the metallic camera bump housing into the side rails, following Samsung’s lead, and it looks great.

Although the screen has a 120Hz refresh rate when scrolling around, it can automatically switch to lower rates when less demanding tasks are conducted in order to conserve battery life. Additionally, there is an invisibly hidden fingerprint scanner, which generally works quickly and accurately.

 OnePlus 10 Camera

OnePlus 10 Pro

The phone is equipped with three cameras: a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera providing 3.3x zoom.

The primary camera is accurate in terms of colours, exposure and detail. The Pro camera mode has a new RAW file option – RAW Plus – that uses computational techniques such as HDR blending but still outputs a DNG RAW file for editing ease. This is a similar method to what Apple uses for its ProRAW mode, which can be beneficial for people who wish to edit their photos later.

This camera has a portrait mode that does a good job of separating the subject from the blurred background, as well as a panoramic-style mode called XPAN (reminiscent of the old Hasselblad cameras), which allows for wide and narrow images, and a motion blur mode for creating blurred water or car headlight effects.

Although there is sometimes a colour shift between the wide and normal modes of the super-wide lens, the optical zoom lens gives enough zoom to help you find more interesting compositions in your surroundings. Although I’ve seen the iPhone’s zoom produces clearer results, it is also fairly sharp. If you want a phone that offers 10x optical zoom, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is your best bet.

Furthermore, the 32-megapixel front-facing camera consistently produces sharp and vibrant images, perfect for those who love taking selfies.

OnePlus phones have always had good cameras, but they’ve never been able to compete with the best of the best. With one of the best cameras OnePlus has ever put on a phone, the 10 Pro falls short in night mode and zooming. However, it is an excellent camera for most daytime scenes, however, and it will serve you well if photography is important, but not the sole reason you bought your phone.

A powerful battery and a turbocharged processor

This handset comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and 12GB of RAM on the UK review model, although the US version will have up to 8GB.

In demanding games like Asphalt 9 or PUBG, even when the settings were maxed out, the laptop handled these tasks with ease. The company has apparently done a variety of tweaks to ensure that gaming performance is optimized for smooth frame rates and to reduce the delay between you tapping the screen and the action being performed. It seems that mobile gamers are well catered for.

There is a setting in which the available RAM can be expanded up to 19GB with regular storage.

Powered by Android 12, Oxygen OS, the latest version of the software, makes it a good choice for both experienced Android users and those taking their first steps into the world of Android smartphones.

There’s a 5,000mAh battery that’s powerful enough to last a full day, thanks to various performance improvements. It supports fast charging too.

Although the OnePlus 10 Pro will compete with the S22 Ultra and the iPhone 13 Pro, it’s likely to be the Pixel 6 Pro, which is also $899 in the United States. It is powered by Google’s Tensor chip, while the OnePlus 10 Pro uses Qualcomm’s newest chip. They both offer fast speeds and show off Android 12.

Despite this, due to the features exclusive to T-Mobile, including water resistance and 5G support, many people may be better off with the Pixel for its wider compatibility. In the UK, the OnePlus 10 Pro is cheaper than the 6 Pro at £799, making it a closer match with the OnePlus 10 Pro thanks to its ludicrously fast wired charging speeds.
