WhatsApp to roll out Message Reactions on Android/6 Emojis

WhatsApp is expected to roll out Message Reactions on Android Beta, 6 Emojis to Choose From soon after the feature has been tested on Android, iOS, and desktop.

WhatsApp is reportedly planning to release its message reactions feature for Android users on a beta basis. Users are currently able to choose from six emoji reactions. In line with the report, sending emoji reactions after receiving or viewing a message is restricted to a few users. Still, everyone should be able to see emoji reactions after reading them.

The Emoji Reactions feature is also available on other Meta-owned platforms like Instagram and Messenger. Additionally, they have been available to users on Discord, Slack, and Telegram as well. However, WhatsApp has yet to confirm when the emoji reactions feature will be available to all users.

Following a report by WABetaInfo, Whatsapp will soon roll out emoji reactions to Android users on beta. According to the WhatsApp features tracker, the new feature is available to select beta testers for WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.22.8.3. Currently, it is only available to select beta testers, but everyone should be able to view the reactions on messages, according to the report.

There are six different emoji reactions that users can trigger – Like, Love, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and Thanks. There is currently no information about whether or not users will be able to change or customize the emojis used in message reactions.

WABetaInfo has also tweeted that since the message reactions notifications setting is already available on all three platforms – Android, iOS, and desktop – it may be introduced to WhatsApp on all three platforms very soon. No official confirmation has been given by Meta-owned, which means the information should be taken with a grain of salt.

A new WhatsApp feature was spotted for the latest WhatsApp Desktop beta version 2.2208.1 earlier this month. However, the new WhatsApp feature was not accessible to the public beta testers. You can now use the new feature titled React to messages from the dropdown menu under the message section. The desktop app of WhatsApp has also been seen testing the addition of a shortcut for emoji reactions next to messages. By using this feature, users would be able to quickly respond to messages.

We have already mentioned that message reactions are already available on Meta’s other platforms, such as Instagram and Messenger. As of yet, no official announcement has been made by WhatsApp regarding when the feature will be added to a stable version of the app. Emoji messages reaction features are already available on Discord, Slack, and Telegram, so users can use them to express their emotions.
